My First Time!

My First Day was not really that easy. It was a total adventure! It's like going on a hike without bringing any Map. Well, I didn't go by myself, Papa (My Father) accompanied me in going there. We went there Sunday Afternoon (January 17, 2016) but we just stop and stay for a night in Las Navas because the people told us that it's not good for us to travel there anymore with this late afternoon, we will probably arrive there evening and it's very dangerous. During our stay in Las Navas we heard a lot of rumors that the place is REALLY REALLY FAR and also some scary rumors about the place. That time it's like I just want to go home, but Papa told me not to conclude and give up that easily without even trying first for myself. So we Traveled there the next day at 6 in the morning (MONDAY) and ride a HABAL-HABAL (it was still cold and foggy). I really thought that it's not that far so I traveled wearing my school uniform. But aside from being far, the way going there is also difficult. We Walk a lot, the Driver cannot take us anymore because of the Mud. My pants got mud and ripped, so I use my sweater to cover it. The place was small and there is no signal. The time we arrive, a lot of people are staring at us. We stayed first at the house of the Baranggay Captain then go to the school. Papa left the other day and I stayed with my new co-teachers. At first I was so uncomfortable because the place is really different from where I came from. There are no electric, no signal, we cook by means of woods, we sleep on a mat and there is a lot of Rats haha. The place is so cold every morning that it feels like I'm taking a bath in a frozen water, but so hot during late morning which always makes us sweat. The place was so quiet, there is no sound of vehicles and even music (Well, it was during that time because there are no electric). I'm missing everything outside. I'm so happy and excited the first time I saw my students. I handled Grade 7, 8 and 9. I Learned to love my students that easily because of their innocence and jolly personalities. During that time, I started to realize that the Lord still wants me to extend my service, share my knowledge and skills with these Young minds and learn to love them with all my heart.

A Short Information of Brgy. San Miguel

San Miguel is one of the 53 baranggays of Las Navas in the Province of Northern Samar. Its population as determined by the 2015 Census was 1,514. This represented 3.99% of the total population of Las Navas. The Barangaay has already its own Elementary and Junior-Senior High School.  From Bobon, sometimes it takes me 2 hours or more than that in going to Las Navas depending on how many minutes do I need to wait until the Van will leave. But talking only about the travel, I think 2 hours.  From Las Navas to San Miguel it also depends. If it is Sunny, we can go there by riding Habal-Habal. If it's Raining too hard, we ride in a small motor boat. But if it's Rainy and sometimes Sunny, we have no choice but to walk in going there. Sometimes we can't go by motor boat because it cannot go there if the water is not high enough, habal-habal can't also travel because it's too muddy and it will just get buried in the mud. January 29, 2016

Today we travel in going home through boat and it takes us 6 hours. The rain was so strong that it makes us to get wet while we're in the boat. Then the time I arrived in Catubig, I traveled by myself for another 2 hours. It's really cold because I'm wet and the van has air con.  It's really cold and as I was traveling from Catarman to Bobon through tricycle, I got wet again. I quickly change when I arrived home.

March 30, 2016 (first moving up ceremony)

Today is the moving-up ceremony of the students in San Miguel High School. I did a lot of things today that made me busy, like helping in preparing for the sandwich later this afternoon, help in organizing ribbons and medals because I was also assigned in preparing the program and I also practiced the students for their choir in "Lupang hinirang" and "Division Hymn."I did a lot of things today and I really enjoyed it.  I don't feel tired. Well, maybe just now. Hehe. Everything happens as expected. Everybody enjoyed the event. Our Guest speaker was Ms. Anjanette Pajantoy, an LLT graduate, who also graduated as Cum Laude. She's super nice and humble :) During the event, we eat bake mac, fruit salad, fried chicken and sandwich. I really enjoyed it. What a very nice event :)
